主讲人(Lecturer)：Professor Xiaoli Ma，Georgia Institute of Technology
报告人简介(Introduction of Lecturer)：
Dr. Xiaoli Ma, IEEE Fellow, received the B.S. degree in automatic control from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1998, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA, in 2003. She is currently a full professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Tech., Atlanta, GA, USA. Her research interests include wireless networking and communications, including network performance analysis, transceiver designs for wireless time- and frequency-selective channels, underwater communications, 5G and B5G, and machine learning for communications. Dr. Ma has served as a Senior Area Editor for the IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING LETTERS and Elsevier Digital Signal Processing since June 2012, and has been an Associate Editor for the IEEE SIGNAL PROCESSING LETTERS (2007–2009) and the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS (2008–2013). She was awarded the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence by the College of Engineering in 2009, and Outstanding Junior Faculty Award by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2010, at Georgia Tech. She was a co-director for Gatech Center of Excellence on UWB Technology, co-founded Ratrix Technologies, and actively served as a consultant to industrial companies.
讲座内容(Content of Lecture)：
The fast growing of blockchain technologies has inspired an exceptionally broad set of new social applications due to its special features such as the secure and transparent transactions, and tokenization/digitalization different kinds of assets. Together with cryptocurrency, blockchains have been widely considered as social economic products. In this talk, we reveal that blockchain is a multi-disciplinary research area, and link it with networking, communications, signal processing, security, etc. Using some study cases, we demonstrate how to analyze blockchain algorithms (e.g., consensus, difficulty algorithm) with signal processing techniques. This talk sheds some lights of the engineering aspect of this new technology.
